I know that feeling. Quite specifically, actually – my first proper shiny that I caught myself was a Wingull. I still have him, too. He’s awesome.
I still have my shiny Pelliper. He is indeed awesome.
This was also my first shiny as well oddly enough.
first legit shiny me and my friend ever saw- after like 4 years of play. my friend caught it, migrated it to platinum, then gave it to me before he traded in his game. i still have it.

I have never found a shiny, and i have played every generation, each version of the game too. Beaten and caught them all. And nothing. ;_;
Me too, buddy. I started playing first gen in 1997, when I was in kindergarten. Now, I’m two years out of college and still haven’t seen a legit shiny. One time, I added up all the game time I’ve logged, and estimated that I’ve played around 37 full days of Pokemon main series games. And not one shiny.
My first shiny was a lv 6 Whismur (which became a lv 48 exploud before someone stole my game).
But my second was a lv 4 Abra (now a lv 65 Alakazam, which I still have), top that.

My first shiny was a Wurmple. From that day forward he was known as my Purple Wurmple.
Never encountered a shiny, and i played through all gens, some I nuzlocked afterwards and some I played the after-game too, unlucky me
Don’t feel bad; I’ve never seen a legit shiny either (aside from the red Gyrados), and I’ve played every gen, too. Some of us just aren’t lucky, I guess.

First shiny was a Vulpix in Leaf Green
Most will probably throw stuff at me, but I got quite a few. A Golbat back on Gold, then a very long time (read: until me farming for my 4thGen Dex on SoulSilver) none, then suddenly golden Exxeggcute. Followed by a Hoothoot, a Zubat and another two Golbats.
Why is Golbat such a common shiny? The first one I caught was a Golbat too.
It’s not that Golbat has a better chance to be a shiny, it’s that you see Golbats everywhere. Hate them so much.

I found several; Poochyena in Emerald, Aipom in emerald, Starly in diamond and Pidgeotto in leafgreen. Also my friend traded me a shiny charmander he fluked out on in leafgreen. THE FOOL >:) oh and red gyarados of course.

Best I ever had was a shiny eevee in silver that hatched from the original eevee egg you get. I didn’t know what shiny’s were though, and I thought it was glitched and black and white, so I never used it.
Thanks to the short-term lives of the gold and silver games, it has since gone. But I can proudly say I owned a shiny eevee!

My firs shiny Pokemon was a Lv6 Mareep in Pokemon Crystal
My first and so far only shiny was a Zubat, first and probably last time I’ll ever catch a Zubat.
Mine was a Pidgey on a Leafgreen Rom hack (note, the hack had nothing to do with changing the frequency of shinies)
My first shiny was Regice in sapphire. I really don’t know what I was thinking when I started a new game. ;-;
First shiny was the Onix that you could get in Violet City in Pokemon Gold.
Second was a shiny Rhyhorn in Victory Road in Pokemon Crystal.
Third was a shiny Nincada on Route 116.
Fourth was another shiny Rhyhorn in Pokemon Platinum. Best thing about getting him is the story behind it. I had done a ton of training and accidentally got into a rival battle. I didn’t have good luck in the battle, so I restarted, thinking I had saved after healing. I hadn’t saved, so I had to fight through a long route of trainers and training my pokemon again. While I was training, I found the shiny rhyhorn.
Nincada is one of the best shinies to get because it has the potential to evolve into two Pokemon. My brother had one and the that evolved into Ninjask/Shedinja.
May as well keep the trend going.
Not sure if shiny or merely an alternate colour, but my older brother found and caught a Golbat with pink(very pink, not slightly pink/purple) wings and green skin.

My first legit shiny was a Boldore in Black.
I really want a fifth gen shiny, I have a few from each of the other gens.
I got an Emolga in Black. I was on a packed tram though, so I got a few stares while sweating my ass off trying to catch it.

LOL I’ve seen a shiny zubat, an electrode that exploded, a zigzagoon before i got a pokeball, and a poochyana. All on emerald without hacks. So freaking lucky then unlucky.

My first shiny, not including red Gyarados, that I found was a Scyther in Gold, which I ran away from because I was a noob back then and thought I could find another one. The first that I caught was a Golbat in Sapphire, and then after that I started finding them randomly pretty often. I found a Pidgey in Fire Red, a Wurmple in Sapphire, a Ponyta in Pearl, and ironically I fished a shiny Gyarados in Pearl before HG/SS were even announced. Plus, I have a shiny Cyndaquil and Chikorita from HG, I hatched a Snorunt and Lapras in Pearl and I have heaps of chained shinies, but nothing beats those completely unexpected random encounters.

I caught both my first and second ever shiny pokemon in White, a Sandile and a Minccino, I was so excited seeing that pink minccino (who stays in my group),
First shiny was clefairy in firered(I think) unfortunately lost that game. D: Second was a zubat, cant remember the game.Third was a pidgey in leafgreen(ROM).
Technically my first legit shiny (Found in the wild, not bred.) was a Bouffalant in Pokemon Black.
My normal first shiny (Bred) was my Eevee. It’s now an Espeon named Espy.

I’ve been trying to get a shiny shuppet in my games for my favorite Pokemon Banette.
My first shiny was an Abra I bought from the Game Corner in Pokemon FireRed. I bought two of them, one for myself and one to trade in-game for a Mr. Mime. I didn’t even know shiny pokemon existed at the time and I hardly noticed the different color. I decided to keep the shiny Abra and a few months later decided to migrate it to my Pokemon Diamond, where it currently resides. My second non-Gyarados shiny was an Onix I found in Wayward Cave in my Platinum. I later evolved it into Steelix.
Especially at randon. Doesn’t matter how many times it happens. I have 16 shiny’s and I still freak out.
Last one was solrock during a wild double battle. The whole time I’m going “don’t blow yourself up, don’t blow yourself up, don’t blow yourself up…” And by some miracle it didn’t.
My first wild shiny was a shiny Psyduck on crystal still have it too other then teh red Gyarados on the same game still hopeing for more ive seen some others that i dont remember but psyduck was teh first one caught

my first 3 shinies were pidgey/pidgeyottos, found on the same route in firered. one i killed (critical hit), one whirlwinded, and the last i have in a safe place. since then, no luck.

My First Shiny was a Linoone in Emerald, and then a Dratini in Soul Silver, and then a Scraggy in White.
My first ever shiny was a Smoochum in Crystal I hatched from the egg given to you by the daycare man in the beginning.
Then I caught a Voltorb, Wingull and Nincada in my Ruby. Sadly I haven’t caught any since.

My first shiny was encountered in Pokemon Sapphire. It was a shiny Taillow (which has since evolved into an equally awesome Swellow) and currently resides on my Pokemon White game. She holds a special place in my team, because she was the only Pokemon that I had to ever win the master rank contest in Hoenn (AND got chosen as a super sketch model) and has a ton of ribbons. Now she’s retired from contests, and helps me fly from place to place.
I love my shiny swellow.

Caught a Shiny Golbat in Sapphire, before I AR-bricked my save and had to restart. Nothing until I caught a shiny Luxio at the beginning of Pearl. Then I caught a shiny Krabby in Soul Silver, and managed to matsuda my way to a shiny Rotom in White. Love my shiny Rotom.

my first time i played platinum, when i got my first pokeballs and walked into the grass, i found a shiny shinx. From then on, before i finished the story i had caught a shiny chatot, macargo, ralts and ponyta. Macargo was the hardest to catch, because i found it on stark mountain when you have one of those tag-alongs and the retard tried to kill it, so i killed his pokemon instead >:D

Omg same with arbok it was around 40 and forgetting my dragonite was level 51 dragon claw killed it BUT! I made up for it with sweet blue and purple excadrill also when I was five I had shinies all over me, shiny hoot hoot, shiny Mareep and during my time in union cave before azalea town freaking spearow! I also found a shiny growlithe sometime before azalea too, I didn’t know shinies were important till morty back then I just chucked poke balls at every thing that looked cool

The initial battle against the Poochyena in Sapphire was with a shiny. I had no pokéballs at that point so I was definitely mad. The second shiny was a Hoppip on Heart Gold but my sister decided to delete the save file.

First one I actually used on my main team just came up recently: I started a new game in Heartgold and the second pidgey I met after I got my pokeballs was shiny. It’s currently a lv42 golden Pidgeot, and will probably be the first one I bother to trade forward.
No Legit shinies. BUT Through Action Replay, i have a shiny GENESECT. He pwns.
And A Shiny pikachu, however i may have evolved him/her, he’s lost in my boxes, with all my other Pokemon.
Ah.. shiny wingull. My third shiny. My first was a whismur in sapphire, then a shiny golbat in ruby, and a shiny wingull in sapphire. In the most insane (and best/worst stroke of) luck ever, I found a shiny whismur a week later. My most recent shiny was a medichan in diamond. I have encountered 5 natural shinies in my pokemon career. (not counting pokerader, otherwise a shiny larvitar is my most recent.)
My first shiny was my second time playing through Diamond. I went into the Ruin Maniac’s cave and ran into a Hippopotas. I didn’t know it was shiny at first, because the color scheme was pretty similar. I was going to run from the battle, but instead I decided Hippopotas was rather endearing and I caught it. Only when it evolved did I look it up to see if I had a shiny one (as the color scheme was a bit weird) and it seemed I did! I was so excited…only then did I realize that Hippopotases in general were hard to come by, and my shiny was true magnificent. <3 I named him Hippo. My creativity is amazing.
Haven’t played a Pokemon cart since GSC, but none of the codes I use on emulators since affect the shiny encounter rate

The only time I ever saw a wild shiny pokemon, My crystal game on my way to the first town. I saw a wild shiny geodude. But I was not able to buy pokeballs yet so I could not catch it……..yeah I’ve been playing pokemon for over ten years and the one time i found a shiny pokemon it was so early in the game that i couldnt even catch it.

Except for Gyarados, Pichu, and the Crown Dogs, my first Shiny was a Smoochum from that egg on Crystal, second was a Shuppet I caught on Sapphire, now a Banette on Black, then a Swablu that fled on Ruby, tons of trades-in on Diamond and HG, finally a Vullaby on Black, now a Lv. 71 Mandibuzz
My first shiny of course was the Gyarados. Then came my tentacool, then another tentacool, and my kick ass Sawsbuck that I caught near Driftville city. My Sawsbuck kicks ass though. He was my first level 100 and I still use him.

And then I got the Grayados in SS and am now using it.

Well, I should say I haven’t seen a LEGIT shiny since. I’ve hacked them in multiple times with Gameshark. :/
I don’t own a Gameshark, so both my Shinies are legit. They’re also both Ponytas (a male L21 and a female L20. I spend too much time leveling up around Solaceon Town.)

My first shiny, was a geodude, in crystal, i think some of us have caught the red gyarados,i lost my game a few time after, my last shiny so far is a pichu in emerald, when i was raising a male pichu that knew volt tackle, when the egg hatched, that really made my day, it is now a raichu
Excluding Red Gyrados (which I retain to argue is a BOSS) the only other shiny I’ve ever caught was a level 7 Geodude on Crystal. The moment my Gameboy Advance was traded in for the DS, a part of me died, knowing I could never play Crystal again. I still have it, retaining the hope that some poor soul will give me their Advance or Colour. I named the Pokémon after my best friends at the time, and I remember beating Red for the first time was the day I got my first A on a test.
I love Pokémon.
The only legit shiny I have encountered was a pichu in the Trophy Garden on my Pearl. Only to find out a few years later that they were giving them away in an event… XD
I get all of my shinies off of the GTS. Yesterday I got a black rayquaza for a lvl. 100 male blaziken. >3

I’ve gotten Pokerus once per playthrough in Pokemon Platinum (I restarted because my brother’s d-bag friend borrowed the game without permission, used it to get himself a Celebi and transferred all the good stuff to his game).
I got a shiny Sudowoodo in HeartGold.
I feel like I’ve been very lucky at finding shines (though I very rarely end up catching them xD) My first was a shiny hoot hoot before I even got poke balls in crystal, then I got a shiny scyther in FR (which I evolved into a shiny Scizor that looks fricken sweet), and then in ruby i found a shiny poochyana (again before i got poke balls) and then my friend traded me his shiny haxorus (and all i needed to give him was a pidgeoto he isn’t that smart) and also my Groudon in ruby was shiny. My little sister asked me if she could restart my sapphire so i let her and she comes up to me and tells me that ethe starter pokemon were weird colored and i took a look and freaked out but then she decded it was a bad thing and turned the game off…. i have never come so close to murduring my sister than on that day.

My first shiny was a Shinx. Well I didn’t exactly CATCH it, more like I made it faint. But then I got a shiny Ralts after I got the National Pokedex and then a shiny Yamask in White.
My first shiney, that I remember and not including gyrados, was a patrat that I evolved into watchog. I almost caught a shiney darumaka….but sadly a misclick while my pokemon was out of moves led to a struggle attack that finished him off. My finger is lucky it was not cut off after that.
My first and only shiny I caught was a Shinx in Platinum. I caught it a few days ago and It’s a Luxray now!
My first shiny was a Wurmple in my first play through of Sapphire. Three days later at my birthday party a friend of mine started a new game and saved over. We are no longer friends. ಠ_ಠ
My second and third shinies were also in Sapphire—a Sandshrew and my Rayquaza (which, contrary to popular belief, I didn’t intentionally restart for).

Black and White I was lucky enough to find a shiny Golett. Which was epic cause I needed one on my team, then I critical, then there was nothing but rage towards myself.

My first shiny was in Silver. I was goofing around outside of Saffron City when I came across a purple Murkrow. At the time I thought shinies and differently colored Pokemon were two different things (why, I don’t know), and since the purple on the GBC was so close to black, I didn’t realize my mistake. I caught the Murkrow and let it rot in my PC for about a year until I went back and checked on it. By then I knew shinies and differently colored Pokemon were one in the same, so I looked really closely and saw that the Murkrow was purple, not black. It remained in my PC until I restarted.
My second shiny was when I went back to replay LeafGreen right before Diamond and Pearl came out. I’d been saving my Master Ball in case I came across a shiny that knew Roar or Self Destruct or a similar attack. My friends called me paranoid (seriously, they did), but better to be safe than sorry, right? I was making my way through Celadon Cave when I came across a wild Magneton. As it passed across the screen when the battle started, I noticed its magnets were black instead of red and blue. “No way,” I thought. “Did I just find a shiny?” When the sprite stopped on the right side of the screen, it sparkled. Yup, I totally just found a shiny. I threw the Master Ball without hesitation and saved immediately afterward. After I left the cave and checked the ‘mon in my PC, I saw that it knew Self Destruct. The paranoid parrot in me saved the day. When I got my copy of Diamond, I sent Magneton over and evolved it. It became a staple of my team.
My final shiny was in Black. I was training in the desert early on and had come across a million Sandile. Then came the million and first…and it was shiny! I couldn’t believe my luck, since Sandile was the only gen 5 Pokemon I saw pre-launch and genuinely liked. I caught it and added it to my team. It’s now a level 89 Krookodile.
First and only one, my shiny Skarmory in Saphire.
One of my favorite pokemon normally, it’s still a pillar in my team!

And in Gen4 i wanted to catch something, but encountered a shiny Staravia instead (I didn’t have all badges, I think i even needed something in my team that could use Fly). I was soooo happy but then… WHIRLWIND!!! FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

The First (and last) shiny i ever saw was on my pokemon emerald. I saw a shiny smeargle in that cave at the battle frontier. I caught it. BUt since i was supposed to be asleep my dad took my gameboy and turned the power off before i could save.
I just got shiny pidgey. I was level grinding, and half asleep when I notice it’s color was odd… Then I was like Holy crap a shiny pidgey!!!!!! Now he’s a gold Pidgoet.
I’ve also had a shiny Spearow and Whimsur, both found while EV training other pokes. If I try to find them on purpose it just annoys me.
My first shiny was Machop in Crystal all those years ago. Haha. Then for some weird turn of events, I get platinum, open the case, start the game, and get a shiny Chimchar straight off. That sir… is luck at it’s finest.

My first was Ponyta in diamond. i had no idea what it was, so i traded it for a lv.40 chingling. I killed a shiny trapinch(emerald), shiny sentret and smeargle in safari zone in soulsilver fled.:( caught 2 shiny shinx in platinum. my three recent shinies were pidove, litwick, and togepi, all in white. then, my little brother deleted my data.
